Professor Anthony Gershlick is Consultant Cardiologist at Glenfield Hospital in Leicester, UK, and Professor of Interventional Cardiology at the University of Leicester. He completed his BSc in Pharmacological Biochemistry in 1973, and became member of the Royal College of Surgeons in 1976. He has been instrumental in introducing a number of techniques to the UK, including the first clinical case of vascular brachytherapy (2002), the first drug-eluting stent (2002) and the first patient to receive myoblast stem cell therapy in a clinical trial (2006).
Prof. Gershlick is board member and working group member on many national and international committees. He is also on the editorial board of the European Heart Journal. He has published more than 150 peer-reviewed articles, and has led 5 international and 6 national clinical trials.
